A true gore movie – low budget, lots of meat
This movie is in a “genre” and is not Titanic or Matrix, and for this genre, La Forêt does quite well. The music is outstanding, the movies pace is pounding and the demons are impressively real. Sure some actors’ lines don’t flow or appear off, but the spirit of a gore movie is dead on. Critics on the net and specialized press found are excellent. The movies was apparently on a tight budget, but the DVD is still full of bonuses. I actually also recommend the director’s previous movie, Décadence. Which did go one step further in the style: more meat, more blood. The picture and directing did improve in La Forêt. Look out for the next flick, maybe in 2007 ?
Probably the worst film ever made.
Well, this is easy to say, but this movie has every ingredient for being the worst movie ever. Bad Directing, amateurish actors, atrocious dialog, and for a horror film, no scares, unintentional laughs, lack of story, tension and pace. Worst of all, a nude scene with an ugly fat woman (hope she’ll not read this comments though). Filmed with a cheap DV Camera, this picture is so bad you can not imagine. The devil masks however are quiet well done, but the demons are moving so week and slowly that they are hardly considered as a threat. Rent this movie only if you are curious about the “worst movie ever made”, of if you know someone who was involved in this production. It was hard to belief that so many persons were involved in making this film, if you see it you may guess it is a work of 2 undergraduate students.
