The distributors tell him “… you have nothing exploitative in your movie. Add some sex scenes, more violence, and maybe we’ll buy your film.” The distraught filmmaker approaches his neophyte, semi-psychotic producer, Bravo and tells him, “… put together a cast and crew… we’re going to re-shoot and give them what they want!” Bravo nervously tells him, “We’re out of money. ” Jayson screams at him, “I don’t care. Do whatever you have to do!” Bravo enlists a young movie crew to follow them into the remote back woods of the Great Bear Mountains by telling them “There’s no money, but when we sell this, you’ll all get a big piece of the profits for your efforts… and great craft service!” Various ‘B’ movie actors, including stuntman Burt, and his gorgeous wannabe actress girlfriend, Ashley, join them as Jayson has promised her a role in the movie. After a series of ‘behind-the-scenes’ interviews of this quirky bunch, they begin filming. Jayson is accidentally killed by his inept crew, and in the midst of all the confusion, Bravo strangely convinces them to finish the movie. They reluctantly agree, but soon after, are attacked by an unrelenting swarm of deadly ‘devil dogs’ from Hell. Burt, Ashley, and Bravo briefly escape the danger as they are rescued by two ‘angels’ sent from Heaven to battle the monsters. Unknown to them all, Bravo has made a pact with the Devil to provide twelve souls (theirs) in order to get the movie made. Mayhem ensues as the survivors attempt to kill the ‘demons’ and close the entrance to Hell before the whole Earth is consumed by evil!
Plot: A micro-budget movie crew treks into the wilderness to shoot horror scenes for their unsellable indie-drama. They soon find themselves in the midst of their own real horror movie, as they are hunted by a large group of creatures.

Satire!
This movie obviously wasn’t playing it straight. The acting was hit or miss, depending on the scene. The monsters were damn cool. The movie was funny and I believe intentionally so.

The cast/crew massacre at the midway point was funny as hell. It was cool role for Glen Plummer and some of the other actors are good as well. There are few that are not so great too. And the crazy-ass explanation the angel gives, with the shooting in the middle and goes right back into the speech, freaking priceless. Monsters in the Woods is a great tongue and cheek time.

Flaws? Sure, but there are more positives than negative. I say give this hard to find gem a go.

I got exactly what I expected
I don’t get the hate this movie is receiving, don’t get me wrong I am by no means saying its a great movie, honestly I don’t know if I would even really say its a good movie, but its clearly not a bad one.

I mean the monsters looked great, a real throw back to the old school monster movies I enjoyed so much as a child, the rest of the f.x. gags where fun, the acting was… I’ll go with OK, but over all I don’t feel like I was robbed of the 2 hours I spend watching this, it will just fade into the hundreds of other nameless monster movies I’ve seen over the years. Lets be honest about one thing though. Even before I saw the budget, with a name like monsters in the woods you should not be expecting to get a film like the “Artiest”. Its going to be camp, its going to be “B” grade. If common sense did not tell you that you deserve not to enjoy the movie.
