Plot: When the Hulk becomes too dangerous for the Earth, the Illuminati trick Hulk into a shuttle and launch him into space to a planet where the Hulk can live in peace. Unfortunately, the Hulk’s struggle to escape makes a malfunction in the shuttle causing Hulk to land on the planet Sakaar where he is sold into slavery and trained as a gladiator.

Hulk s-meh-sh
In recent years, the animated straight to video market has done much to rid itself of the stigma that “Direct to DVD” was a code word for “Awful”. These new films are much more sophisticated than their predecessors, and make no mistake, ‘Planet Hulk’ is *not* a kids film. In fact, I’d say this was more violent than either of the two live-action ‘Hulk’ movies. Blood and death abound, and there aren’t any lessons to offset it.

With its dull animation, weak voice acting and uninspired dialog, ‘Planet Hulk’ may not reach the heights of some of the better titles to come down the line the last few years, but it’s a serviceable distraction that should please Hulk fans. For everyone else, mileage may vary.

Good adaptation
These Marvel DTV are much better than expected. Planet Hulk is a pretty good adaptation of one of the most famous Hulk storylines and does so without the resources of a huge summer blockbuster. It is a fairly violent tale with some good emotional punches and a nice story for everyone’s favorite green monster.
