Just Bleak!!
I don’t know what is worse: The final days of a cinema icon (Boris Karloff) or the Sixties. This movie drones on and on. The central figure is a tiresome rebel who really has no loyalties to his friends or to society–he is bored. So when he chances his way into the clutches of the aging Karloff and his unbalanced wife, he becomes their mesmerized zombie and eventually a puppet killer. Karloff’s wife lives her lost life vicariously through our young stud. Because he has no say in anything, he has no sympathy with the audience. The results are predictable.

The ridiculous plot is bad enough but there are these endless scenes in a club where they buy Cokes (beer) and don’t say anything. There is a romantic subplot–which evokes no interest. Lose this one.
